Wanted to start this thread to get peoples reactions to the meet and greets.  If you have been to one on THIS tour, tell us what you think.  If something annoyed you about it, let us know.  Also let us know how long the meet and greet lasted, whether they signed anything for you (not including the pre-signed poster) and if you got to use your own camera for the photo.

Last year the M & G's lasted about 3-4 minutes and the band signed 1 to 2 items for you.  Although they were short, it was fun to chat with them and get something signed.  From what I read from the first night or two of the tour, you are now given less than 30 seconds with the band, are handed a pre-signed poster, a quick photo is taken (perhaps not even with your own camera) and then you are ushered out.  And on top of that, you paid $150 a head to be treated like crap by the folks running the M & G.  If Train keeps this up, fans will stop caring.  To quote Pat  "Everybody needs a little Respect",  well Pat, how about your fans who pay big money to meet you.  Show some love like you have in the past.

So please do let us know how your experience went.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE M&G tickets for upcoming shows:

Please do NOT read through these posts and immediately assume your experience will be the same as some at the earlier shows. I attended the Lincoln show and had M&G tickets.  When I saw this discussion thread (not until after my show), I was incredulous.  THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZIER THAN COOTER BROWN!

A meet and greet is just that -- you meet them, chat for a few moments, have something signed, and have a picture taken.  It is NOT the after show party. If you want to hang with them, figure out how to get the cool after party stickers (which sadly we did not. :( )  My point is this -- every tour, even every show within a tour is different. Venues, travel distances, set-up requirements, etc. Time is of the essence for all of that, because hey, they're going to be putting on one of the BEST shows you've ever seen, like they always do! The other thing no one is thinking about is SECURITY and SAFETY.  I'm sure you've all noticed the world we live in is at times perilous. Remember that the staff running the M&G has not only the safety of the fellas in mind, but also YOUR SAFETY in a backstage environment.  He doesn't know you or that you are the biggest Train fan since the beginning of time, or that you had a groovy love fest M&G with the fellas two years ago.

Having said all of that, my take on the Lincoln M&G is a positive one -- no wait, it was AWESOME! No confusion on where to go, yes, we did have to be in a line and stay in line, but life has been like that since kindergarten. We received our posters and had the option of having them or an item signed, so obviously the staff has HEARD THE COMPLAINTS. Of course they took the pictures and we weren't allowed to -- think about how much time letting people snap their own would take, especially if they take pictures like my Aunt Opal -- think "wait, wait, I wasn't in focus", or "one more, Pat had his eyes closed..."

I love the fellas as much as anyone -- the great thing about TRAIN is that you feel a real personal connection to them, so very understandable there seems to be some "possesiveness" being bandied about concerning the M&Gs. Was my M&G long enough? Hell no!  I would have loved to chat them up or better yet hang out and knock a cold one back, but that isn't the M&G experience. And everyone always wants more. What you paid for, is an experience. Are you guaranteed the EXACT same experience every time, in any aspect of your life? No. How can you really say it wasn't worth it? Meeting the fellas is PRICELESS.

DISCLAIMER:  I am in no way, shape or form discounting anyone else's feelings or their experiences with M&G's at the first several shows.  I simply want everyone who is going to a future tour date to NOT purchase M&G based on anyone else's experiences. Peace, Love, and Train.

Saying, "THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZIER THAN COOTER BROWN!" (to quote you EXACTLY) seems to discount the feelings of others in a big way.

Patti,

I'm so glad to hear yours was better!! Train is a class act and I'm sure they fixed the problem. No one expects to do shots of tequila with the band, they are busy guys. I just read about the complete silence, no pictures, no autographs and just thought WTF? I'm looking forward to TEXAS! It'll be a hell of a time!

How does one find out if there will be a M & G at a particular show?  There's no press indicating it, the venue has no idea.....anyone know?

The meet & greet packages are being sold directly through Ticketmaster.

@Patti Pierson, As refreshing as it is to read your post about your positive experience in light of most of the preceding posts, I cannot believe anyone can be so unkind to fellow Train fans. I mean, you screamed out loud, "THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZIER THAN COOTER BROWN!". That sounds, to me, like misplaced self-righteousness and a blatant disregard and disrespect for fellow fans' feelings or personal experiences without taking into account what led them to feel that way.

To me, it was VERY clear in ALL the posts where fans recounted their experiences in a very appropriate thread, that they were disappointed ONLY because of what they were promised or what to expect, in writing, at the M&G.

It's simple - they are told to expect something specific, so they do. And then, after much anticipation, those promises are withdrawn without notice at the point of delivery and they don't get what they were expecting all along as a result of that promise and anticipation. They are, after all, only human. How are they supposed to feel? How does their very real feelings of disappointment make them crazy? How?? I'm sure no-one was expecting anything more than what was promised. Certainly not an after-show party.

Maybe someone was reading those posts and so your experience was that much better. So maybe you have those same "crazy people" to thank? Maybe, just maybe, if not for "these people (who) are crazier than Cooter Brown", who bothered to share their experiences here, you and future fans at Train M&Gs, might well be singing the same tune? Maybe?

NICE!!!  Thank you for the positive post!  I am SO looking forward to mine.  Wouldn't mind knocking one back with them either...Hell, how about dinner and a movie while I am dreaming.  But back to earth...I am SO excited by the chance to meet them!

:D

Or through Artist Arena...depends upon the location of the show....

Been giving some thought as to how this years M & G have gotten so out of hand with regards to the number of people attending.  I have this theory:  Last year, you could only get the M & G through Artists Arena.  The common Train fan, who does not follow them on Trainline, was unaware that you can even get a M & G. Hence, you only had about 10-20 people show up (at least on the ones I went to). With a small crowd, everyone got their 3 minutes with the boys, had a couple of things signed, had a photo taken with their own camera,  had a chat and walked away feeling on top of the world saying to yourself "I've got to do that again, it was great".  This year, enter Ticketmaster.  Many of the Meet & Greets are being sold through Ticketmaster and more people have access and knowledge of the M & G and the demand skyrocketed. No longer were the M & G being sold "under the radar". Train became overwhelmed with the amount of people coming and in turn, did whatever they could (at the expense of the fans) to rush people through the process. The intimate M & G experience of years past had been replaced with a "get 'em in, get 'em out" mentality.  The ones who suffer the most are the fans who had attended these functions in the past and were expecting them to be the same as they had been, along with new fans who heard stories from the older Train fans and wanted to have the same experience. So (Tell me), does this theory have any merit ?

I think this board should be deleted

You are dead on as to what is happening in the M/G arena. Now that the world knows how to get them they have skyrocketed. Let's back up though. I don't think anyone as of yet has stepped forward to make right what we were sold in Charlotte.......what's up with that. Simply sweep it under the carpet?
