Permalink Reply by Catherine on January 12, 2012 at 5:29pm Thanks for sharing your story! My daughter and I saw them last summer with Gavin DeGraw and Maroon 5. My daughter said that was the one time in her life when we were the same age!

First time I saw them was June of 2004. It was the best concert I have ever been to. First it was a standing room only venue and I was literally up against the stage (center) so most of the concert I could literally touch Pat and/or Jimmy at almost given time. After the concert we had met some people and were standing outside talking. I was leaning against this bus but had no idea until it started moving that it was their tour bus. I just didn't think about it, I guess. I looked up and could see Jimmy getting off the bus. They hung out with us for about an hour or so. My husband doesn't really like them but he thought they were the most awesome guys he'd ever met for just hanging out with us. I am sure a lot of the reason that it's my favorite concert ever is because of meeting them and hanging out with them. :)
Then in 2006 I drove down to Phoenix, AZ and saw them at the Tempe Music Festival which was so much fun. Last year I saw them again with Maroon 5 and Gavin Degraw. They have been my favorite band for as long as I can remember and will remain my favorite forever probably.

I can honestly say I've been a fan since their beginning. The year,1998,- Boulder, Vail, Denver. I saw them three times in one week when I was on a vacation in CO. Hooked immediately. They were supporting their first label, AWARE Records. They played very small bars and theaters with other up-and-comers on this tour, but stayed out west. Good group of guys, always just grabbed a drink and hung out with the audience after their set. When they started playing nationally, I saw them in Tampa 2001 and over a dozen times since.

The only time I have seen Train (so far!) was September 2, 2010 at Stir Cove, outside Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. My friend and I checked into the hotel in the afternoon before the show, then went to the casino until dinner time, and then to the concert. During the show Pat started talking about how Jimmy had a party in his room that afternoon, Room 305. I looked at my friend and said, "We are in 307!" which was next door. Of course, the band left on a bus after the show, and Jimmy was no longer in 305 :( When we checked out the next morning, I asked the girl at the front desk if Jimmy really had been in 305. She said she had been at the concert and heard Pat say that, too, so she looked at the reservations when she got to work that morning, and yes, Jimmy WAS in 305!
Train was at the Iowa State Fair this past August, and although I couldn't make it, my daughter and her husband attended the concert and LOVED the show!

Permalink Reply by Brandon King on January 16, 2012 at 9:54pm actually won tkts to see them in a private show for the Drops of Jupiter album release back in March 2001, not sure maybe 50 to 75 people in a private studio in Atlanta GA for my first show, I got hooked on them in fall of '98 when a friend let me borrow their first album and the wife has been in love with Pat just as long. Wife and I have been to see them quite a few more times since and still huge fans of their music. Hoping for a return to HoB Myrtle Beach someday.
Permalink Reply by Catherine on January 18, 2012 at 9:26am What a great Train journey! The private show sounds like a dream come true. I have happy memories of sharing albums with friends--nowadays, everybody has an ipod so the whole borrowing back & forth doesn't happen.

Permalink Reply by Allie woods on January 18, 2012 at 5:47pm My first concert was in Lenox, Massachusetts on August 8th 2011 in Tanglewood. Great seats, beautiful place and most importantly the GREATEST band:) best day of my life.
Permalink Reply by Peggy Melton on January 27, 2012 at 5:47pm I've loved Train since their beginning, but working and raising a family kept me pretty much at home. No time or money for concerts. My husband died in 2001 and I stopped listening to music altogether. I don't know why, it just made me upset and angry so I didn't listen. It was not until 2006 when I heard another Train song, and from that moment on, I was back listening to Pat and the boys. This was the only music I could listen to without feeling bad. They made me feel good and happy which is what music was to do for you. They did that for me, I connected with them. In 2011, I asked my daughter, then 26, if she would take me to a concert. She couldn't believe her ears. Not only that I was listening to music again, (we never talked about Train and that is all I ever listened to. It was my secret I guess) but that I was wanting to go to my very first concert at age 59!! I gave her my CDs to listen too since she didn't know them. She was shocked that they actually made some of her all-time favorites. Meet Virginia, DOJ ...she was so happy that I was able to enjoy these songs with her. We made the 6-hour round trip and listened to their music coming and going. Had the greatest time ever and she cried for me when I got to touch Pat's hand as he did a walk about singing Marry Me. My first concert ever, but certainly not our last. I wish Pat knew what their music did for me.
