Where and when was your first Train concert? Mine was August 2, 2011, in Charlotte, NC. Come on, all you longtime Train fans, tell us newcomers about your first concert!

My first Train show was in Tucson, Sept, 2011. Then hopped a plane to Oklahoma City for show #2, got another plane for the Dallas, TX show, then drove to the Woodlands for show #4 then another plane back to Phoenix. Was the greatest week of my life...so much fun. Plan to do it again this year once I find out the US tour schedule!!! :-) I'm a fairly new Train fan...would be nice to hear from folks who have followed the band much longer than we have (we would've had we KNOWN about this band for sure)!!! LMAO
I've been a fan of Train's music since Meet Virginia, but I didn't really start following the band until a couple years ago...I consider myself a "rediscovering" fan. My first Train concert was Louisville, KY on August 28, 2011. The tickets were a Mother's Day present from my husband. I was mesmerized when Pat came out on stage. I didn't sit down the entire time they were on. I was hoarse from screaming and singing when I left and I was on a cloud! Knowing what an amazing time I had and what a huge fan of Train I am, my husband surprised me with 2nd row (center) tickets to the rescheduled Erie, PA show October 23, 2011. Seeing them up close was a dream...it took my breath away when Pat came on stage he was literally standing 10 feet in front of me!!
Permalink Reply by SassyD on January 8, 2012 at 5:45pm I saw Train with Bob Schneider at Deep Ellum Live...2000 I believe. Great Concert!!!!! Since then I have lost count on my fingers LOL! Las Vegas with Matchbox 20 was awesome and a lot of the trainiacs from the board met up. Seeing them with Cowboy Mouth in New Orleans was amazing!!! Train concerts are always amazing. The club tours in SF were awesome. Small venues were magical. Love me some Train!
Train Rocks!
Permalink Reply by Cindy Hussey on January 8, 2012 at 8:58pm First time I saw them was June of 2004. It was the best concert I have ever been to. First it was a standing room only venue and I was literally up against the stage (center) so most of the concert I could literally touch Pat and/or Jimmy at almost given time. After the concert we had met some people and were standing outside talking. I was leaning against this bus but had no idea until it started moving that it was their tour bus. I just didn't think about it, I guess. I looked up and could see Jimmy getting off the bus. They hung out with us for about an hour or so. My husband doesn't really like them but he thought they were the most awesome guys he'd ever met for just hanging out with us. I am sure a lot of the reason that it's my favorite concert ever is because of meeting them and hanging out with them. :)
Then in 2006 I drove down to Phoenix, AZ and saw them at the Tempe Music Festival which was so much fun. Last year I saw them again with Maroon 5 and Gavin Degraw. They have been my favorite band for as long as I can remember and will remain my favorite forever probably.
Permalink Reply by Mary Todd on January 8, 2012 at 11:50pm The only time I have seen Train (so far!) was September 2, 2010 at Stir Cove, outside Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. My friend and I checked into the hotel in the afternoon before the show, then went to the casino until dinner time, and then to the concert. During the show Pat started talking about how Jimmy had a party in his room that afternoon, Room 305. I looked at my friend and said, "We are in 307!" which was next door. Of course, the band left on a bus after the show, and Jimmy was no longer in 305 :( When we checked out the next morning, I asked the girl at the front desk if Jimmy really had been in 305. She said she had been at the concert and heard Pat say that, too, so she looked at the reservations when she got to work that morning, and yes, Jimmy WAS in 305!
Train was at the Iowa State Fair this past August, and although I couldn't make it, my daughter and her husband attended the concert and LOVED the show!

Permalink Reply by Tony H. on January 9, 2012 at 6:39am I can honestly say I've been a fan since their beginning. The year,1998,- Boulder, Vail, Denver. I saw them three times in one week when I was on a vacation in CO. Hooked immediately. They were supporting their first label, AWARE Records. They played very small bars and theaters with other up-and-comers on this tour, but stayed out west. Good group of guys, always just grabbed a drink and hung out with the audience after their set. When they started playing nationally, I saw them in Tampa 2001 and over a dozen times since.
