Permalink Reply by Michael Wagstaffe on April 29, 2012 at 7:40pm also does anyone know what time i should start queuing so i could get near the front? need to make sure i get a good place! :)
Permalink Reply by Ben Bowers on April 30, 2012 at 11:53am If you get there about 8pm the night before you should defo get a good spot - make sure you've got a decent sleeping bag and check the weather reports as you might need a brolly through the night. There was a Subway down the road that does good breakfast rolls.
I'm kidding, obviously - it says on the ticket doors open at 7pm, we're aiming to get there a couple of hours before. The earlier you get there the closer to the front you'll be (as you would expect) but it can be a mjor drag waiting around. Last time we queued up it was September and pretty chilly, and given how crappy the weather was these last couple of days it's not a good sign this time around!
Bring snacks and drinks, make a picnic of it!
Permalink Reply by Rob Harrison on April 30, 2012 at 6:24pm I attended the Manchester Academy gig in Oct 2010 and it was a fabulous night. Good friends, great atmosphere and the performance was outstanding. Agree with everthing everyone else has posted and more.
Got there early and stayed in local hotel. Managed to get a bit of inside info and was told that the bands tend to go to a student bar near the venue called the Big Hands so went in there before and after the show. Didn't hold out much hope as not the greatest of places but all forgotten when the band did actually come in later on (minus Pat unfortunately). Good photo call and a great night had by all.
Booked for the Hammersmith Apollo this year so hoping for a good gig but surprised if it can live up to the last one. Same friends, Friday booked off work and the band will hopefully be just as good so all the makings for another great night.
