Scott is a Minister. I know where this is going and it's not good.

Just saw on Facebook that Scotty is now a minister. How much you want to bet that he will be marrying people on stage at Train concerts this year.  Just when you think you have gotten rid of the Trainettes and their time wasting nonsense, now comes this.  Do we really need this going on during concerts.  How un-cool. Train used to be a cool Rock n' roll act, not anymore. At this rate, they will be toast in 2 years because people will cease to care. Long time Train fans have already jumped ship and the newer fans will hang on for a year or two before they bail as well.  Time for new management, boys.  Get on stage and sing, please don't embarrass yourselves further by doing this.  Please.

I doubt that's gonna happen. Anyways, they weren't wasting time with the Trainettes. The were connecting with the fans, that's what Train's all about...

The way to connect to your fans is through your music. Train does not need to cheapen their image by doing crowd participation stuff at their live shows. The Trainette fiasco brought the entire concert to a grinding halt during the 4th song of the show.  Fans would rather see them sing an extra songs or two instead of waiting for Pat to finish playing ring leader to a bunch of hyper-active teens.

Pat likes to socialize with his audiance and it makes more girls come to the show with the chance of meeting their favorite band onstage and backstage. The mothers also love seeing their daughters onstage as well. He does connect with his fans with his music but he feels he should go a little further than that. He and the rest of the bands love bringing the girls up on stage.

The Trainettes were the biggest waste of time at Train concerts. I agree that the time they wasted doing the Trainette thing should have been used to play a couple more songs. I was embarrassed for the band when they did the Trainette part of the show along with the crappy country version of She's on Fire they did on the last part of last year's tour. I was close to bailing on the band last year because I thought they lost it! New England Guy is right. If you want your target audience to be soccer moms in mini vans and their kids, great. That audience will be gone in a couple if years. Most pop groups that target the kids and their moms are the hottest thing one year and gone the next. (Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, etc) Only a few of them survive. Let's see how long One Direction stays around.

Let's hope Train doesn't do a song for the next Disney/Pixar movie. I'm sure Scott is going the marry someone on stage this tour. Why else would they post his new credential on the website?  If he does, it will be another waste of time a one of their concerts right up there with the Trainettes! Train used to play 2 1/2 hour shows split into two sets with a break in between. Some of their currents shows only last 75 minutes. Way too short to be wasting time with the Trainettes or weddings on stage.

Maybe the GUYS saw it as a waste of time but if you were a girl and looking at it from my point of view, maybe you would get the picture. Whatever, I'm done arguing... goodbye...

Hannah,

I never thought is was an argument, just a discussion. Not a big deal. I'm glad you enjoy the music of Train and I hope you continue to like them. Enjoy your summer.

Take care,

Jeff

Scott....can you Marry Us?  Wish I had picked up my marriage licence and you could have married us tonight in Toronto!  Patrick (my fiance) can come up and play Marry me on guitar if you need any help tonight!  xo

Scott is divorced and has a kid or two (and a new girl friend). Or so I'm told...

Didn't think Scott was married ... if this is the case, wonder what the calling would be to marry others?  Maybe he did tie the knot...anyone know?

Trainettes need to stop.  Weddings need to NOT start.

I agree that this takes time out of shows that could be filled by 2 or 3 more songs.

I love these guys so much!  Really!  They love their fans, include them in shows, and go out of their way to sign things, take photos, etc.  This minister thing though....yikes.  I was genuinely surprised and a little disappointed.  I can't lie.  Trainettes? Fine. Pat running through the audience? Fine. Pulling someone up on stage to sing a song? Fine.  BUT - marrying people?  Nope.

I want to hear Pat sing and enjoy listening to their amazing live music which is so hard to find anywhere else these days.  Train does it so well, and I hope this doesn't ruin anything for them.

I always say that honesty is the best policy, and I feel good about doing just that. I look forward to next month when I see them - and hopefully not see a wedding take place.

Not sure how I missed this thread two weeks ago. As much as I love Train the band, the people and the music, I have to agree with every post New England Guy has made on this thread.

I think the whole Minister/Marry Me thing is tacky. Even more tacky, in my humble opinion, is the idea of taking a very private moment of making sacred vows to a very public place. I think the whole act not only cheapens the band's image but it also diminishes the value of a union that is supposed to be taken very seriously and should (although not always possible) last forever.

You know, they can do as many marriages as they want.  They can make the trainette segment include every single underage girl in the audience and last 20 minutes.  Fine on all of the above.  But ONLY IF they make up for those time wasters by performing more songs.  I dread the look of the 15 song setlist as much as the lengthy stops in the show.  15 songs at 4 minutes each is a short show.  And if they are aiming at 90 minutes on stage, that should not include the things like marrying people.  Just my 2 cents.  They have 15 minutes of marriages and 15 minutes of trainettes, if they also play for at least an hour and 45 minutes in addition to all of that, and I won't mind.
