Just saw in the TV listings that a show called "Front Row Center" featuring Train will be on tonight on WLIW, Channel 21 in New York. It's one hour long and will air at 10 PM and again at 1 AM tomorrow (the 20th). Don't really know what this is. Perhaps it is portions of the Chicago show that was recorded for DVD and never came out. Anyway, just wanted to let all you East Coast fans know about this. Set your DVR's.

The Front Row Center show is a spin off of the Soundstage series on PBS. The setlist features 12 songs, mostly from the Save Me San Francisco Album as well as a few older songs and a cover Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart. The show was not part of Train's original tour schedule and was done just for the filming of the TV show. It was recorded on 6/9/10 in the gap between the Baton Rouge, LA show on June 5th and Biloxi, MS show on June 11th. It is a very polished performance (Almost Too Polished) with lots of lights on the crowd which is usually done when filming concert videos. Still an enjoyable show to watch. Running time is 57 minutes with no commercials.

Meet Virginia

As always, you are a wealth of information. Many thanks indeed. I had never heard of this program. Just burned a DVD of it. I like the way it was filmed better than the Chicago show (the DVD that never was). More close ups of Mr. M. A nice addition to my Train DVD library.

Permalink Reply by Joann Pitkunigis on May 21, 2012 at 2:07pm It's a much more intimate performance than the Chicago show. This had nice close up's of Pat and the boys and a nice small venue feel to the show. Chicago was just big and zoo-like. (still good though).

Permalink Reply by Ali on May 30, 2012 at 5:10pm Huge Train fans...we happened to catch "Front Row, Center" while watching the usual PBS channel to lull ourselves to sleep. What a treat!!! The sound was incredible! It helps to have surround sound and a good sub woofer. We had a home party and private concert complete with singing and dancing! Have been trying to find out ever since if I can purchase a DVD - or if will air again so I can record?? Anyone have any suggestions?
